The place is very beautiful but they don't do procedures right away, like changing a camera part, he wants his camera for a week to evaluate and then say what needs to be done. Making the customer pay for a camera lease if you don't have a replacement. But the place is the service is good. But that's all that's bad. If you could change simple parts on the same day that would be great.

There are only two really reliable photo stores in the Washington area. One is District Camera and the other is Pro Photo. Both have great service by employees who know their job and photography. Pro Photo is the smaller of the two, but it is the only place in Washington where you can get cameras repaired. Take your camera to District Photo for repair, and they will send it to Pro Photo. Parking is iffy in this part of town, but the store is an easy walk from the Foggy Bottom Metro station.

As a professional photographer, I always appreciate the hospitable customer service as well as the great selection of products that are competitively priced when compared to online retailers like Amazon or B&H. Went in to buy some rolls of film and walked out with some rolls of film! For some reason the card reader didn't understand my foreign debit card but that shouldn't spoil the fun. Staff was nice and I got what I came for :)

Recently got into photography and this was the closest pro camera shop to me, conveniently being on campus! I must admit, I've now visited multiple times and received arguably amongst the greatest levels of customer service from any establishment. All staff are incredibly affable, and the passion for photography in the atmosphere is almost tangible. Whether you're looking to buy something, get service, or just talk photography, this is the place!

Brought in my Canon AE-1 Program to repair a jam, which they were able to do, albeit expensively (they were very transparent with costs throughout the process). The repair seems to have worked great, however the mirror is now extremely dirty, which is why I’m docking one star. Overall happy with the repair but definitely make sure to check everything before accepting your camera.

Had a wonderful experience at this shop a couple of weeks ago and have to share! I had taken my son (1 month old) to get a passport photo retaken at several locations around the passport agency with complete failure-went back three times to one photo location only for them to fail standards and the cvs nearby was unable to take baby photos. Went into this shop nearly defeated and was greeted with amazing customer service. They have the right equipment to photograph babies and my son was so content he opened his eyes (rare sight) for the photo! I had a nice chat with the staff and highly recommend working with them for their amazing professionalism, patience, and courteousy!

If you're in the D.C. area, don't get your camera repaired anywhere else. I've had them do three repairs on two cameras in the last four years, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. A colleague tipped me off to the fact that they're just about the only place in the metro area that doesn't ship their repairs out of the shop for the work to be done. I've had problems in the past with other shops that do that losing track of my equipment for weeks at a time, and being fairly unapologetic about it, so that alone convinced me to give Pro Photo a try. I wasn't disappointed. Their repairs are always done pretty quickly, and generally cost less than I anticipate (and sometimes are less than the initial quote, which is always nice). They've also got a great selection of new and used gear at totally reasonable prices.

This is the best photo shop in Washington D.C. For more than three decades they have sold quality cameras and equipment. They have the best repair facility in the Mid-Atlantic. It is a family run business and it shows. Very friendly and will go out of their way to help you accomplish your goals. Also a wide selection of used equipment. Love this place. Ask for Owen.

Extremely helpful and understanding, Damaged the ring around my lens while on vacation. Which ment I couldn't take photos. Sally the young lady at the counter helped me out. They called me back with a quote, all things considered. So I had them go ahead and repair it. They had me on my way within 24 hours and at a great price. ..thank you Sally and Pro Photo. Staff here are so personable. We had to make the 20 minute walk from the Australian Embassy to have new passport pictures taken, and they were very helpful and fast. Their camera had a template on it which made it pretty much fool proof for them to take the photo correctly (Australia is SUPER strict with sticking to the official guidelines when it comes to passport photos). They certainly saved our skin that day ;)

I have known the store and it's staff and owners a long time, have bought a few pretty high end cameras and lenses and came many times for advice, repairs, accessories, or just a chat. I love browsing their used merchandize, and their selection of the best quality items accross brands. I found real treasures sometimes, such as a used Nikon 400 mm tele, which has served me for years without fail now. What I really appreciate is the honest and clear professional advice you get. Recommendations that primarily come from the perspective of the seasoned technical expert, not the salesman. I will go back soon to buy the Nikon Df - and have a coffee and chat about all its specs and technical details :)

The staff here were very helpful and even dug in the back for the product I was trying to find. Alas, they did not have the small Manfrotto tripod I was looking for, or a robust cell phone mount. If you are looking for a huge selection of camera gear, this is the place!

If you need your camera fixed the right way, come to this place. If you need your camera fixed the right way and within a reasonable amount of time, then I recommend you look elsewhere. I dropped my camera off on the 17th of December to get the photo sensor cleaned and to get the focusing screen replaced. They said check back in 10 days. I called 10 days later and they said the part should be coming in sometime that day. When I called a few days later, they said that they didn't order the part until the 20th and it should be coming in sometime that day. What were they doing for those 3 days? They knew what was broken and what part needed to be replaced. Also, they should know when and what parts are arriving since we have the ability to track packages these days. Long story short, after calling back every few days for the next few weeks and getting the "it should be coming in sometime that day" speech every time and a "we don't know why it didn't come in with the other parts, we'll have to call the factory to place the order again", I eventually picked up my camera a month later on the 17th of January. Go use these guys if you have time to kill. They do great work, but when it comes to ordering parts, they are really slow just like some of the reviewers have mentioned below.

We needed a couple of things for the camera which always happens on vacation it seems... they took care of our needs and then answered questions for Adam about his projects. I walked a mile past the other camera shop in the area and boy am I ever glad! Plus Major Garrett gets his phots developed here!

if you need something image related be a digital or traditional And I stress that traditional because they have it all, this is your One-Stop shop. But if you just need a USB adapter of some weird kind for your mat, this is the secret place for that.

Called to see if pro photo could repair my Pentax k1000 (stuck lever and shutter button) I worked closely with Zane. He was very communicative and responded within 24 hours. Very pleasant guy. Customer service gets a 5. They were able to fix my camera for $180. Expensive for me but I was smitten with the customer service and didn’t feel like comparing prices. I was told there would be a complete CLA included in the 180 so that made me feel better. Turn around time wasn’t bad at all. Not even a full week. So I’m very happy with that All in all a great experience. I did foolishly send in my camera with a brand new roll of film in it. … they wound the film back in the canister and left it that way so I had to buy a film retriever tool to get it out. But admittedly that was partly my fault I think if you’re looking for camera repair (or more) this is a great choice. The few times I have been in the store It felt like an intimate experience surrounded by everything you need. The people are great, i believe family operated and they’re helping to keep film alive.
