This is why you go with Mom and Pop stores like Bray & Scharff! My mother in law's microwave broke and after being on hold with Home Depot and talking to a number of absolutely clueless people, I found Bray and Scharff online. I was not put on hold but directly transferred to a very knowledgable salesperson, Ron Hutchison. Ron went out of his way to arrange a seamless delivery (I'm in Los Angeles and can't install myself.) Not only that, when she needed her groceries brought upstairs, Ron called the installer/ delivery to make sure that he could help her. THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN WORKING WITH THESE GUYS. Super fair pricing, incredible customer service. THANK YOU!!!!

On 1/22/22 I called Bray and Scarff and reached Paul Walterhoefer who has assisted me with appliance purchases in the past. I needed a new electric stove QUICK for a house I’m about to sell in about a week. Paul swung into action, emailed me links to 3 viable options and I quickly chose and paid for one. Paul arranged for white glove delivery for 1/28, the exact day I needed. This was customer service above and beyond and I’m incredibly thankful. Six stars for Paul and Bray and Scarff. Greg C was the knowledgeable sales person/store mgr with whom I ordered my replacement washer/dryer - same brand and style as 11 years ago since I was so satisfied the first time through. Then I had the good fortune of having the Stan and Moe team to deliver and install into my tiny second floor wash room - they did an amazing job in squeezing in there and not damaging any of my rugs or other items. Plus they were delightful! All in all a great experience.

We first sought to order a new range on Costco.com, but it was almost four weeks until a delivery would be possible. We then went to a local competitor after looking at the distances to the stores from our home. The first local appliance store didn’t have any stock of what we wanted & told us to try Bray & Scarff Bethesda. We went there and walked in to assess the range we were interested in after doing intial online research. The salesman at Bray & Scarff was very nice, informative & not pushy at all. Very nice. Bray & Scarff had the range we wanted in stock and offered to deliver two days later. SOLD!! Yes, it’s was $400 more expensive than Costco, however we didn’t want to be without a functional oven for another 4 weeks. Their delivery experience from tracking to the delivery team was excellent! The three men delivery team was professional, helpful and respectful. We would wholeheartdly recommend Bray & Scarff.

I needed to replace my old washing machine at a busy time of year. The space for the machine is very small, and I could not find anything suitable online. I went to Bray and Scarff, and a very knowledgeable and patient salesperson helped me search. After saying that machines are no longer made that small, she actually found one: 21"" x 21"'! I'll have to wait 2 months, but my problem is solved! I have nice neighbors who will help in the meantime.

Working with Michael at the Bethesda store via online was GREAT!!! We have a 15 yr old Kenmore washer that started leaking as water was coming into the machine. Of course, it wouldn't be a simple fix to replace the supply hoses. NO, it had to be leaking from somewhere in the drum itself that was inaccessible for a DIY fix. After looking for a replacement washer and comparing prices with other stores, we settled on a washer from Bray & Scarff. Michael arranged for delivery and we'll have our new washer at a BETTER price and SOONER than any of the other stores. We bought an oven from Bray & Scarff about two years ago. We'll come back to Bray & Scarff when we need other major appliances in the future. Thank you, Michael, for working with us.

I have always bought my appliances from Sears or Home Depot, thinking that they had the best selection, best prices, and best service. But I saw the Bethesda store online and decided to check it out. I was fortunate to meet Nick Botkin who helped guide me through the store. The Bray selection was a little bit better selection than any place I had shopped before, including options that I had never seen at Sears or Home Depot. The prices were often identical to the other stores, but unlike the other stores that try to hide the installation/ delivery/ etc. fees that may be needed. Nick was very up front about them and unlike the other stores Bray has certified installers. So it can all be done in one day, in Montgomery County this is important. Not only was Nick easy going and didn't do a "high pressure" sale, his knowledge is why I has entered with the idea of buying a dishwasher.... but I bought a dishwasher and stove, with prices for a refrigerator that I will be coming back to purchase in the next few months. Over all the same day install was amazing and the crew cleaned up after they were done. my kitchen looked amazing and I can thank Nick for making the process easy and painless. I would recommend Bray & Scarff to my friends and family.

Great service over the phone when I call. I needed installation done within two days, and they fit me in on a Saturday. The on-line tracking system for arrival of the installers is great and very accurate. I knew I was the fifth stop and could follow their progress, with revised estimates of their arrival and a text when they were 10 minutes away. Mr. Thoman was recommended to me by my contractor. He was very pleasant and well informed. He gave me additional information on the appliances that I did not have access to previously. He was also very helpful in discussing the Maryland requirements for gas appliance installation that Home Depot sort of kind of forgot to tell me about until my scheduled day of delivery. The delivery did not happen of course due to my not having fulfilled the requirements . He was able to approximate the Home Depot prices using various promotions. Purchased a Bosch 800 series refrigerator from Stephen Arnold at Bray & Scarff. Steve was extremely helpful in determining if this counter depth refrigerator would fit in our 36X72 cabinet area. Arranged for someone from Bray and Scarf to come to our home and measure and we did need to adjust our upper cabinet by an inch. After several delays from Bosch (Steve kept us informed every step of the way) we got our refrigerator delivered yesterday and love it. The delivery team arrived on time (within the window) and very professional installation. He advised that with the pandemic, the order may take longer - but I was pleasantly surprised when it was delivered in a week. Have had bad experiences with discount home improvement stores that outsource installations to outside contractors that are often clueless and don’t take anywhere near the care that Bray & Scarff do when they come to do the install.

Really informative no pressure sales experience with Jae. He even pre-filled out the rebate form for me and followed up to refund money to me when a $20 junction box was not needed at installation. I was very satisfied with the delivery and installation, which was all done on the same date and in the time promised. Prior to Bray & Scarff I had a bad experience with Home Depot's appliance delivery and installation which is a drawn out process of delivery one day, then waiting for a licensed plumber to come on another day.

Let’s divide the experience into 2 parts: purchase & installation. Installation will occur this coming weekend, so I can only reply to the purchase experience. I called the Bethesda B&S. Mike Strange picked up the call & introduced himself. Our conversation could not have been better. I had shopped around a bit, had both some ?, & a couple of preferences regarding a Maytag clothes washer to discuss. Mike was extremely knowledgeable & well prepared. He answered all of my ? & even provided some answers to a couple of ? That weren’t on my list. It was as though he had either gone to school, or taken himself to school, and took the role of a customer & asked all of the anticipated ? That a prepared customer like myself would ask. I even asked why should I buy from him & not a big box store. He had an answer for that. I couldn’t decide between 2 options & he patiently walked me through that decision. Never a mention about buying a washer from B& S. It was just the right thing to do, to buy a washer from Mike at B&S at that time. The highest compliment that I could give would be this: If I owned a company & was looking for a senior sales agent, or a sales mgr, or maybe even a V.P.of Sales, charged w training & overseeing sales people, the best thing I could do for my company would be to hire Mike.

Bray and Scarff have the knowledge and it doesn’t cost more than a big box store. Big box stores let you wander and wait and provide little to no help at delivery either. Ben and Noel went above and beyond to install my fridge in a tight space. They didn’t leave till water and ice were hooked up and working and they made sure I was familiarized with my new appliance. Friendly fast efficient. The sales rep knew just what we would need to fit initially our small kitchen.

Our GE Profile broke down after 18 years of good service. We call Paul, who has served us well in the past, and within minutes he sent us a link for a new GE Profile which will be delivered in 3 days. That was the fastest transaction we could imagine! We were lucky that the fight brand and size refrigerator was available due to shortages in supply chains but we also were able to talk to a sales person who knows us and was very responsive!!

My dishwasher ‘died’ unexpectedly. When I called Greg at the Bethesda branch, he immediately began to look for a dishwasher that he could get as the supply chain is in chaos. He was able to find the brand that I wanted but not the color. Most manufacturers are producing stainless steel - and not colors. I then purchased a stainless steel dishwasher on a Thursday and it will be delivered on Tuesday - 5 days from purchase! I am not looking at 3 months of hand washing dishes!!

Product choice and quality was excellent. Installation of gas cooktop was professional. Opted for the advertised 2-year guarantee rather than the extra cost 5-year guarantee. The required installation inspection that we paid $110 for was never performed, due to COVID-related delays - out of Bray & Scarff's control, yet still frustrating, and still a part of the payment that they received. 10 months after installation we noticed a gas smell, prompting an emergency Washington Gas Co. inspection. The cooktop was the source of the gas leak, and was shut off by the inspectors. We reported this immediately to Bray and Scarff, who referred us to the manufacturer (GE.) A GE repair call required about 2 weeks to schedule a visit, with the warning that I would need to pay ~$100 for the visit, unless it was judged a warranty visit. The 2-year warranty coverage required a call to a different division (Mon.-Fri., business hours only, plus 10-15 minutes waiting times.) This new division located our product registration, yet said the 2-year warranty also depended on my original receipt/proof of purchase. However, the service guy came and did his thing, could not detect any leak (and we no longer smelled gas). There was no charge.

After 17 years (woohoo!) our GE refrigerator we bought from Bray and Scarff reached the end of its useful life. Although we tried to have it repaired (again), the technician who came and looked at it advised against it. The control board was faulty AND the compressor was only borderline working. He also said they don't make GE's like they used to, and recommended a Whirlpool. We shopped around - B&S, Home Depot, Lowes, etc, and found that everyone had essentially the same price and delivery date, so we ordered one from B&S online; five days later it was delivered and installed. Everything went as it was supposed to, smooth and easy. Now we're hoping our fridge lasts as long as our previous one did.

He and the delivery team were exceptional! Professional, responsive, and knew everything there is to know about the appliances we ordered. The microwave wasn’t delivered with the rest of the appliances so Mr. Botkin personally delivered it to us so that we would receive it with no shipping delays. The delivery team also Took many measures to insure our floors and home, as well as the very heavy appliances, were not damaged during install. He advised me first to purchase a new Jenn Air but the new range was not compatible with the instlation we had for the former range (apparently Jenn Air was bought by another company) and we decided to buy a Bosch. Paul shared information and his personal view, arranged for delivery and everything was done easily and professionally. Bray and Scarff, and specifically Tim Heron, came through in a crappy situation. I bought all of my kitchen appliances from B&S last summer. Unfortunately, my dishwasher started leaking on day 1. Since I did not buy the B&S protection plan, I was stuck calling the manufacturer every week to make the necessary repairs. I had a repairman at my house every week or every other week between July and September. They were perfectly nice and kept repairing things, but simply refused to acknowledge that they sold me a bad product. After a replacement dishwasher started leaking, I had just about had it. I called the manufacturer again, and was told that they have to come back another 3 to 6 times before we can talk about another replacement or potentially a refund. That's when I called Tim. He listened to my rant and about a week or two later I got a new dishwasher delivered (different model) and the old one hauled away. What a difference! This one actually cleans and dries dishes, as well as keeps my hardwood floors dry. If it had not been for Tim, I would have just gone to buy a new dishwasher and hauled the old one to the dump myself. He saved me a lot of time and money. Needless to say, the new dishwasher has the B&S protection plan. I'm not dealing with the manufacturer's repair department again. The only reason for the four stars is that I would have liked some more guidance on the products when I walked into the store. I guess I should have done my homework first, but I thought that if I picked the best line from the most popular brand, I'd be OK. So I give four stars to myself as well and vow to do my homework from now on.

Oh Wow! Bray and Scarff did it again. Specially Stephen Arnold. Have been using them for years. Made the mistake of going once with a big box, and absolutely horrible experience. This place is bar none top notch. Stephen assisted me in picking out the perfect product on a Friday and had it delivered and installed on Monday during a normal time window. No snafus, no fuss, no mix ups. It’s a hands on, family operation and Stephen was so professional and helpful. He emailed all the information I needed, delivery reached out when he said they would and they called in advance of coming. And did I mention their pricing, all competitive with the big names, but quicker and more efficient with delivery and install. Such an amazing experience. Access to our row house basement is very difficult with an exterior trap door and down a short and narrow stair well with a turn. Bray & Scarff sent three delivery men: Anthony, Ozias, and Andre. These guys could teach physics. They worked so hard to get the old refrigerator out and the new (larger!) one in! The had to disassemble and reassemble to make it work. They strained and finally were successful. Their constant communication skills were enviable and no one ever got impatient. I've been in lots of workplace environments and have not often seen professional, mature, positive attitudes like this and these communication skills. The model that we were seeking was not on the sales floor but Mr. Park extended himself to ensure that we were knowledgeable of all the features. The product was delivered the following week. D. The second guy prepared the old refrigerator for removal. The thrid remained outside unpacking the new refrigerator. The new rigerator was installed and running within one hour of their arrival. We had a little problem in uderstainding the operation of the refrigerator's water filteration system. The manufacturer's customer service was no help at all. I emailed Mr Park asking if someone from the store would stop at our house during a trip to the vicinity and explain the operation. I received a telephone call from him immediately saying that he would be at my house within 10 minutes. He was and he resolved the issue.

I chose Bray & Scarff Bethesda for my kitchen remodelling and they did not disappoint. (In fact, my only hesitation was online reviews, but I figure people mostly only post if they're unhappy and Bray & Scarff's Bethesda store is, let's face it, situated in a neighborhood filled with a bunch of fussy lawyers!) Dave Kapp did a great job on design with my problem kitchen. A fairly small space, needs for upgrade in power and a new water heater, a Dupont Circle townhouse walkup with some tight corners to get to the kitchen. So despite those hefty design contraints, was able to get an entirely new kitchen that's just lovely -- very sturdy, functional, calm, modern. I realy trusted him on design choices. General contractor was very good and available, worked with trustworthy people, and they took good care of my place. As to Bray & Scarff generally: in any remodelling, there will come a time when, well, there will be a surprise, and then you have to worry: will the company I chose work with me as a team to solve it or use it as a predatory context to up the price or leave the problem unfixed and the customer less-than-perfectly happy? I'm happy to say Bray & Scaff's reputation for excellent service and integrity was fulfilled and so they're worse the extra price.

Cathy was miraculous in one major decision to consider a range (stovetop/oven unit) to replace a wall oven. By doing so, extra countertop space was a possibility along with additional cabinet space! Diane WRIGHT was the coordinator of all operations. She knew each aspect of the project, where each person was in the order in which installation would take place. There was NEVER a question she could not answer. She was available to problem solve at all times. Chelo Puentes was the cabinetry, wall paper installer and painting coordinator. Tom Shearer was the Field Manager who got involved when necessary to trouble shoot any major and minor problems. John Witt and Glenn, the electricians were superb, patient and understanding! Michael, who delivered appliances was most considerate and careful with removing doors to gain entry for the extra wide appliances. I went to B&S because I was in a friend's home with a functional, small, pleasant-to-be-in kitchen. I asked about the details and was quickly told that it was a B&S designed kitchen. That was it!!! Had been toying with the idea for a while but could not really get started. My late husband and I had been B&S customers for many years. Why? They were close to home in Bethesda, service oriented, knowledgeable sales, not glitzy but had functional appliances that could be trusted, excellent delivery. So B&S was a friendly and known factor to begin with. All my doubts about budget, design and style were laid to rest with Cathy's guidance - each detail, drawer knobs, paint color, counter top, floor selection to coordinate – I am so pleased with the outcome. Water from auto-defrosting fridge collected in the freezer compartment instead of evaporating in the collection pan under the fridge. B&S scheduled the repair at my convenience. Tech John Mawolo listened to my description of the problem, told me what he would check, showed me what he found, fixed the clogged internal drain, told me how to be sure the defroster was free of ice build-up due to the clog, and told me what to look for in the next couple of days to be sure the repair worked. It's been a week; the repair worked. Mr. Mawolo did a wonderful job of explaining the steps he was taking and reassuring me the clog was the problem. In sum - excellent service.

The induction cooktop in particular is AMAZING! It works as anticipated. It heats whatever is being cooked almost instantaneously without making the (magnetic) pan or pot itself too hot. We bought a rubberized mat to place on top of the burners when we are not using the cooktop to give us additional counter space. I highly recommend purchasing your appliances from Bray and Scarff.

Repairman said it was a problem with the door closing mechanism, which is supposed to operate like a self-closing drawer. It wasn’t closing tight, allowing frost to form. Excellent support prior to visit to the Chevy Chase location by larry Elmore. We connected via another customer, and he heloed us muddle through the inventory of washers that would fit in a diffiuclut space where our current (broken) washer is located. During our eventual trip to the store last Thursday Larry again guided us well to the “best fit” machine, and after some pondering we chose one! I must note that Larry is one of the top sales persons we have dealt with over many years.

We decided that we needed a firm that could help us navigate the permitting, the various trade specialists and other technical things that would arise within a renovation. Delivery delays can significantly sidetrack installation but having a designer and project manager gave me the time to work. They’re doing the shuffling and worrying and rescheduling. We are getting close to inspection day. Then we move towards installing. So exciting. I’ll write again once it’s all finished- so excited- so glad we chose the total package deal and didn’t try to piecemeal this. We don’t do vacations this way, so why treat our home like this?
