In my opinion, this is the best & largest photo retailer in Maine. They vary knowledgable of all makes and models. I needed some filters for my Nikon @ 77mm. & they had an ample amount. If they were not around, I would have to go to Boston...They also assisted me, with obtaining a tripod head for my long lens & an additional battery. I'm a wildlife photographer, covering Alaska to Texas; Maine to the Grand Canyon, been to hundreds of camera retailers & "Hunts" gets my "5 star" rating...

Fantastic store in a large shopping area. Easy parking and easy to drive to. Camera and Accessories are excellent quality. They have some used equipment as well. This is a chain of 8 stores in the East New England area. They have a great web site. I highly recommend this store in Portland.

I never write these things. Most customer service is either bad or mediocre so I don't waste my time. But really, the guys at Hunt's in South Portland were such a pleasure to work with, I'm just doing my part to encourage that kind of behavior. Ray worked with me, cleaned my camera sensor right in front of me, explained what he was doing, and handed me back my camera in ten minutes good as new. He was smart and professional and it didn't cost much. Plus it's local. Five Stars! I will definitely be back.

I want to give a shout out to Hunt's Photo and Video of South Portland, ME. Twice I have had issues with Nikon USA, and twice Hunt's resolved it within minutes. And this is after sending equipment at my expense to Nikon 2 times. The staff at Hunt's are always knowledgeable & friendly and I love that I can go in there and walk back out feeling good about what I purchase from them. That they stand behind the product they sell. And if we are throwing names in the mix, then I'm going to mention Ray. No matter how many customers he has in there, I never feel rushed. He always takes the time to thoroughly answer any questions I have. When you shop local, you get real people and real help! Thank you Hunt's of South Portland, ME!

We won't shop anywhere else for cameras or gear. Hunt's is amazing. They have a huge selection, their prices are the same or better than online bargains and their staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. In a world of online shopping it's so refreshing to walk into a store and deal with real, actual people who are experts in their field, provide outstanding customer service and appreciate your business.

Pleasurable experience. Went in looking for a CPL that fit Nikon kit lens. Saw lots of stuff I wanted. Salesman wasn't pushy, just showed me what I asked for and then let me buy what I wanted with a request for repeat service. Costs a bit more than Amazon but worth it to talk shop to a real person.

Hunt's is a great local resource for photographers: amateurs, pros and everyone in between. I traded in some equipment and they were extremely fair and up front and we got the whole transaction done quickly. The transaction also matched the big box NY photo stores without the hassle. Service is always helpful though sometimes you may have to wait. The store was refreshed in 2019 and it's clean and well stocked. This is not the dusty, unorganized photo store you may have seen elsewhere. They carry a ton of brands and can help you find the right equipment, if it's not in stock they can usually get it in two days. Buy local!

I have been to other local camera stores and have been unimpressed to say the least. Hunt's Photo & Video in South Portland exceeded my expectations. I was in need of a last minute item and called ahead. Sure enough, it was in stock. They reserved it for me and I came in to get it the same day. While I was there, the staff was knowledgeable and friendly, especially Brett, who helped me with my order. I'm very glad to have found a great local camera store and I'll definitely be shopping here again in the future!

The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and very on top of their game when it comes to knowing what gear might suit my needs depending on the situation . Whether it's an in stock camera strap for $15 or a special order modifier for $1,000 the customer service is consistent and exceptional . This review is long over due . The sales Team, I worked specifically with Rick Bert and Brett Stone, is SUPER helpful, smart, and generous. I own a photo booth business and I was having a connection issue between my camera and computer. They helped me isolate and solve the problem. The equipment I needed is a bit older so I wasn't able to make a purchase through them. They were still kind enough to still give me an excellent source where I could find it. They seemed motivated by something higher than money. This is service at its best.

We were helped quickly. The clerk was friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately he wasn't able to help us out, as we didn't have the SD disk in our camera. He wanted to see the problem via the disk that stores info about the camera and each picture. So he was unable to address our problem today. We will return another day.

I love Hunt's Photo in South Portland! I have been a customer of Hunt's for 7+ years and they are the best camera store in Maine. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable in a wide variety of cameras. The print lab is top notch and has great turn-around times. Whenever I am looking to purchase a new lens, or accessory I go to Hunt's first. 10/10, would (and do) recommend!

Passing through area on pleasure trip. Needed an SD card. Brick and mortar store with outstanding service, SanDisk 128 GB extreme pro..latest version...cost less than many online sellers. Had to wait my turn for service, and was thoroughly impressed with the advice and guidance that the store team members offered the patron. Looked at some additional gear, and not once felt pressured or so that I was a bother. Heading further north in Maine, inquired regarding places to shoot. The team member explained that he's mostly a sports action photographer, but still helped us plan our trip. If you're in the area...this is a must stop place for any type of photography. They're fully stocked in several brands, have some very nice used items, and cover everything from point & shoot, tripods, gimbal heads, selfie sticks, cases...you name it...and really GOOD advice on locations. Also recommended a places for lunch...when I went back in to ask.

In a lot of ways it is a throwback to less aggressive commercial times and I really do not recognise the criticism from some customers here.

Hunt's Photo & Video are so good and friendly. They helped us to get the passport photographs in the required dimensions (Many other photo studios rejected saying that they don't have the template for that dimension). But Hunt's spent good amount of time with us taking the pictures and developing them as per our needs. They are so kind and definitely I will visit them for any photos I need in future. I am very happy with Hunt's Photo & Video's service today.
