Had lived nearby for years and had no idea Filmtools was down the street. Now I have to keep myself from going here just to look at all the cool stuff they have for sale. Without even asking they lowered the price on a battery I was purchasing because a major online retailer competitor had it listed for a few dollars less. That’s the kind of service that can’t be beat!

Was surprised to see the changes since my last visit before covid. This place has professional equipment needed to help your production. From Camera, Sound, Lighting, and more. In most cases, I know they will have what I need to get my media creations to the finish line. 4 stars...

Great place with a lot of the things I needed! They're currently experiencing some supply chain issues, like the rest of the world, but still had a great stock of essentials! Friendly, knowledgeable staff, as well, and access to an entire warehouse of stuff!

Lots of fun gadgets! Brackets, lighting, apple boxes, tools, bags, tape, glue, cheap stuff, expensive stuff! Great for people who don't make movies as well!! So took a cinematography class here, free, super fun. I have become friends with a few people here which is kind of cool going in somewhere and they know you by name and I'm not even a big spender! Love everyone here.

You'll find pretty much everything you need here, but you'll pay a premium for it. I've had some trouble in the past, where I've ordered online, was notified that it was ready to pick up in the store, only to find out that they sold my item in the store, 30 minutes before I got there. From that standpoint of customer service, I say they still need to improve their system so they understand what items have already been sold.

Staff was great, they were friendly and even invited us in the show room and presented Red Gemini and its low light configuration. The camera saw more than an our eyes, the picture was so much brighter. Everything looks professional in the shop, I liked the experience so far.

Make sure your online order is perfect because if you have to deal with customer service, they might not care. At least they didn't in my case. I needed my equipment to be ready to use at 5AM on Monday. Ordered on Thurs. The invoice indicated I was going to be contacted about the freight cost. I got an email saying my order was shipped and realized it wasn't going to get to me on time. I called customer service as soon as my order went out and the phone answerer didn’t know how to deal with web orders and didn’t want to bother with it and just connected me to the “web orders” department. They weren't around, and then I left a message - this was mid-afternoon - and no one got back to me. I left two emails to customer service. The next day I got an email. It was just my tracking number. Nothing else. No effort to help correct the issue. Just like most places in Hollywood. When you're kind of the only game in town, and a little pricey, you don't care about the customer too much. Poor form, Filmtools. UPDATE 159PM: After sending a couple more emails and doing the live chat, I was finally connected to the manager and she helped trace the path of lack of customer service. Also, Marcus resolved the matter upon receiving my 3rd email. So my faith is restored in Filmtools. (Sort of - their stuff is still pretty pricey, but hey, that's Hollywood.

They never answer the phone. Which is incredibly frustrating. You can call 8 times in a row, and no one will answer. The phone system kicks you out after 3 rings, and makes you leave a voicemail no one may ever respond to. Ugh. If you can somehow interact with this business without ever having to call them, they are lovely. The selection/products are good, and the service is incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They are a delight to work with. Big shout out to Blake-- he's been a big help. Unfortunately, in TV, I can't always leave the lot and drive to their store to talk to someone-- so they should really just answer the phone.

Filmtools is a wonderful place for any gear head! The only bad part about this place is that you may get carried away browsing the aisles, and end up late to your call time haha. Their inventory is superb, and their customer service has gotten exceptionally better over the past couple years. Love this place!

Surprised by the negative reviews, as I have had nothing but excellent service from Filmtools. Jennifer recently saved my shoot by ensuring an order made it out on overnight delivery to arrive in time. Staff is extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and deliveries are fast. I go out of my way to use them.

Excellent place for film and photo supplies! Staff is sharp and the selection is pretty diverse for a place this size (not huge.) Silly thing that's important to me: their gaffer tape is priced about the same as those online guys, I've found. It's nice to shop local for something I consume like air

If you need professional film, lighting or grip equipment in the Valley this is your place to go. The staff is very helpful and is used to working on everything from big budget to hobby projects. Prices are reasonable (considering that film stuff is always expensive). Pro tip: if you're looking for something particular, call ahead of time. Sometimes their website is out of date and they have different stock available than listed.

As a cinematographer who already has everything he needs lighting and camera- wise, this is the perfect place for accessories. Camera bags, tripods, Apple boxes, softboxes, c stands, frames, pelican cases, matte boxes, lens filters, carts, sandbags, cleaning kits, replacement parts for various AKS and GnE, they have it all. Their staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. Free parking and perfect location in Burbank near most studios and productions.

I think the google’s hours of operation need to be updated. Currently google says Filmtools closes at 8pm (M-F), but I think they actually close at 7pm.

Please note: Although Google lists the closing time on Saturdays as 6pm, Filmtools actually closes on Saturdays at 5pm. Essentially, their hours on Saturday are from 9am - 5pm.
