I recommend highly, without any hesitation.

Excellent experience. I have not been to the store in almost twenty years and it was great to be there again buying camera equipment. Store looked great, possibly expanded! Plenty of choices and I got the tripod I liked. While at it, I wanted to look at several Nikon bodies and lensesTyler who assisted me did a great job. He was patient and clear and took the time without rushing to walk me through different lens choices and camera bodies. No pressure to buy. The macro lens was too good to pass up so i got that too. What i observed goes beyond just store appearances, for one as we switched to different parts of the store Tyler was able to quickly pull up prices from the nearest computer rather then having to run around or guess prices. Second, while waited for Tyler to bring the equipment, several other employees quickly checked in on me to ensure I was not standing there like log gawking at the lenses. Also, it's great to be in the store looking at lenses then surfing on the web. I encourage you do that, whole different feel. So, great store, great people and support technology. So 5 stars.

I went to Roberts last week to sell my old camera equipment and buy a new mirrorless set up. While my DSLR camera and lenses were being evaluated, Austin took me through what was available in the used equipment department. He carefully listened to my preferences and explained several options. His knowledge and careful explanations really helped clarify the limitations and advantages of several choices. I left with a very satisfactory credit on my DSLR equipment . Later, I received an email from Austin detailing what we had talked about!!! The next day, I returned to look at the new equipment available. Justin spent a long time listening to my preferences and showing me three good options. He has an impressive knowledge of both photography and the stock. He talked me through the pros and cons of the three options considering my needs and price limit. I cannot emphasize enough what a pleasure it is to do business at Roberts. Both Austin and Justin listened carefully to what I wanted and took me through the cameras and lenses that would fit my needs. I highly recommend Roberts Camera for your camera needs!

I am using the Atoll C on my Olympus OM-1 with the 12-100 pro lens. The OM-1 also requires the Atoll Heightening Plate to center the lens. The Atoll works really well and I love the 90° detents. I would give it five stars but it is a handful to install in the field. My lens won't fit through the ring, so I have to remove the lens to install the Atoll. Also the two buttons on the front of the camera are difficult to use with the ring in the way. Other than that, I love it. Oh, also, the Arca plate that is a part of the Atoll works perfectly with my Peak Design clips.

I've come to Robert's Camera countless dozens of times over the years for a variety of services and camera gear/accessory/35mm film purchases, and I have had a great experience every time. Their range of services and range of new/used gear and accessories for purchase are among the best I've seen in the U.S. I've bought a variety of used and new camera gear, including a number of Nikon lenses and used Nikon SLR film camera bodies. Fantastic experience each time, and you can trust Robert's will come through to sell you only quality gear for a reasonable price. Their 180-day warranty is the longest I've seen in the used market as well. These days I mainly visit Robert's Camera for their highly professional film photo lab. I've had 75-100 different 35mm film rolls developed and scanned at Robert's over the past couple years and each time they've come out looking amazing. It's a blessing to have a professional service like this around still in 2022 for those of us who don't have the space or time for home film development. Cheers to Robert's Camera and thanks for what you do.

I'm not sure why I haven't reviewed this place yet. My experience with Roberts Camera goes back to the early 2000s when a bunch of us student photographers used to meet up in the parking lot and swap gear. Most of you may know them from their used gear online store. So they do a number of things that are great. First place, the classes are wonderful. Second, the level of service you're going to receive for all levels is stellar. I've never been upsold here. Nobody ever gave me a weird look for coming from large and medium format analogue. Third, the used gear is cleaned pretty well - something that's inconsistent in the used market. Ex I purchased a Sony A7R ii around two years ago here, and the sales folks didn't upsell. They understood my application. Instead of pushing me into an A7R iv at three times the price (there was a $500 discount at the time), I went home with the right camera for me.

Exceeded expectations. Wasn't sure what the store would be like. Had never been to a dedicated photography store before. Had a huge selection of new equipment for multiple camera brands. A good used section as well for if you don't want to break the bank. They were having an event the weekend I went where vendor representatives were in the store showing new equipment and helping customers. They also had a sale going on. They seem to do monthly deals/events all year.

Update: I have received the correct lens. The customer service was very fast in rectifying my issue and sending out the correct lens. I am amending my review to reflect this. I just got my order and I am very irritated. I ordered a Zuiko17mm 1.8 lens and received a 12mm 1:2.0 lens packaged in a box for a 17mm complete with the instruction manuals. I feel duped. Now I can’t reach anyone on the phone because they are closed. I have sunken over $400 into buying this lens so I’m really alarmed at this experience with Roberts especially for a first time buyer.

I can't rave enough about how awesome Robert's has been to work with, especially their Used Photo Pro side. I have done everything online, living in a different state but can't say enough how easy the process has been from multiple angles! I've now purchased a pre-owned camera and recently a pre-owned lens thru them. I also recently sold some of my pre-owned gear thru them and all my experiences have been wonderful! The pre-owned gear I purchased has been excellent; their ratings scale is on point and prices are very fair and competitive. Shipping is always super fast and everything has been packaged exceptionally. Everytime I've called or emailed them, the customer service has been amazing. My recent experience selling some of my gear was icing on the cake. Very fair appraisal, fast turnaround on inspection and made the process so seamless. I'll be set on gear for awhile, (maybe).. lol but I really can't thank you all enough for such a great experience everytime I've worked with you! I love this place. I am from Indy, but I actually heard about Robert's while I was in Southeast Asia. Seriously, even local camera shops in places like Taiwan know about Robert's and say good things. I decided to check it out when I got back to the US a few weeks ago. I was not disappointed. Everyone I talked to was unbelievably friendly and helpful. I was never pressured to buy anything, I was never spoken to like a "customer", I never got the impression that they were simply "smiling and nodding" when I spoke, but rather that they were actually listening to what I was saying. I highly recommend Robert's Camera.

Just took Anthony’s fundamentals to photography class (4 weeks) and it was so great!! Really broke it down well and the class size was perfect. We got books with the class and had tons of time to practice, ask questions, work specifically with our camera and review. Really felt like I took A lot away and I have taken other photography classes through other companies (besides Roberts) and felt like it moved to fast or didn’t help with my specific questions and camera. I visited the store twice in the past 7 days. The first trip was to buy new gear. It was a great experience as there was no sales pressure whatsoever. I love the friendly, professional service I experienced. The second trip was a week later and was with the Used Photo side as I traded in my old gear. I had received a more than reasonable and fair quote through the internet. After final evaluation at the store, they actually up'd the value of my gear as I underrated the condition myself. This gesture means to me that you are an honest business, not out to make a quick buck but are in it for the long haul. You have me as a lifelong customer!

Always a good place to go for camera equipment. The staff is unfailingly helpful and knowledgeable, they've got a great selection of merchandise, and the prices are good. Parking can be a pain in the neck, unless there's a hidden parking lot somewhere that I haven't found yet. That aside, I've always been very satisfied with my experiences at Roberts.

Emery, Jesse, Hector, and Jake are all very knowledgeable about film and digital photography. They know the gear quite well and they’re always willing to help. I had to stop the moment I walked inside. It was like I was 8 all over again. Like a kid in a candy and toy store all combined into one, I stood gazing at all the gear. Gio Sanchez knew what I wanted and needed and even let me wander around to ask wide-eyed questions thar he had immediate and illuminating answers for. In a camera shop and I couldn't think to take pictures of this Disney in Indy-place. There was no thought as I was overwhelmed with taking in the sights. If you are into photography of any kind, this place is a dream! Even the Used area has a small product museum that gave me goosebumps! If you ever get a few hours to swing by this place, be prepared to be amazed and even learn a few things. Service, attentiveness and making you feel like you are the most important person in the building are just a few of the amazing highlights of my visit.

I picked up a new tripod today. The sales associate was super helpful and directed me to a very reasonably priced model that he had experience with. I'm super happy with it. The only reason I can't give Roberts 5 stars is because whenever I have my film developed they mess up the delivery of my digital files. They eventually fix it though so I will continue to happily use their film lab!

I've purchased things from Roberts Camera for over 30 years. They are always friendly and professional. Recently my wife and I found SEVERAL rolls of 35mm film that were probably 15-20 years old. The lab processed all of the film and put the pictures on a DVD for a lot less that sending them away. I wasn't very hopeful on what we would get, but I was pleasantly surprised. Probably 80 percent of the photos came out OK and probably half of those were great! The memories are priceless! Thanks Roberts Camera!

I had used them for years with a good experience. Then I ran into a clerk with little photography knowledge, wanting $500 more than most other online shops for the same camera, and offering less for trade in than the other shops. He did not seem to care or offer explanation other than they just try to get the most out of every sale regardless of the value. I would have scored them still higher, but they didn't bother to respond to my complaint. Update: I did contact them and they found my complaint in their spam folder and addressed the issues and promised to make some changes and address staff.

Excellent⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Saw a lens I was interested in purchasing through their website but being a novice i had a few questions and gave them a call. Phil was patient and very helpful and answered all of my questions. I ordered the lens through him and was given a delivery date of 3 to 4 days. Disclaimer: I generally only review the places I like. So prepare for a glowing review. I would've said nothing otherwise. Where to begin? First off, pricing is the same as Best Buy and scAmazon (be careful what you buy on Amazon, really). Roberts Camera was helpful from start to finish, and they want to remail as such post transaction, which is good for their business and good for me. Here's what I got from them: 1. Excellent e-commerce website, easy to navigate, showing a better selection of full frame cameras than best buy, and far more reliable than Amazon, which had some knock-offs listed. 2. Helpful and professional staff over the phone. Great listeners, and they know their products. These people are all photographers, and this is clearly what they enjoy. 3. Positive experience in-store. Sometimes it can all fall apart face to face, but that wasn't happening here. They were helpful, answered questions, and the prices were excellent. They said they would price match, but it wasn't necessary. 4. This place has classes. I can call and ask the occasional question about my camera, but I can also sign up for different levels of photography classes. They even have manufacturer reps come in and do classes on specific cameras. If you want someone to keep coming back and buying photography equipment, set them up for success with that they have already. It's a great business model, similar to what music stores do, and I'm looking forward to benefitting from it.

I was really sad when the camera store I had went to for forever in Nashville closed. I live on the road as a commercial photographer, and it was always nice to have a place with a knowledgeable, and friendly staff to help me when I need something. I was lucky to find Roberts through a friend, and they are even better than the previous store I had frequented. With them being in Indy they are in a great crossroads city for my travels, and they have already next day’d a new set of profoto B10plus+ when I was having a lighting issue. Nothing beats going into the store though super well stocked with a great staff.........I always look forward to visiting, but when my wife sees the bills she might disagree haha. I live in Minneapolis and last week I made my first purchase from Roberts Camera / Used Photo Pro online. The item purchased was a used lens that was graded to be in excellent condition. I purchased on Friday and the lens arrived this morning, Wednesday. After looking at it and mounting it to the camera I have to say that the assigned grade of excellent is very modest. The lens looks and feels like a new lens. The focus and aperture rings turn smoothly and the glass and lens mount are very clean. Christina from U.P.P. was pleasant, professional, and helpful. We have two camera / photography stores here in the twin cities. One of them is a chain store and the service is mediocre at best. The other is a much better but smaller business where personal and courteous service still exists. I have a feeling Roberts Camera and Used Photo Pro are like that second store here in the cities. I wished that I lived closer so I could come visit you, but things being what they are I'll have to settle for continued commerce with you online. I think Indianapolis is fortunate to have such a business in their city. Mike Williams

Today I checked Google to see their hours, and drove an hour and a half (one way) to find them closed! WTF, update your sites! They closed at 5, not 7 (per google). I was really ped, to waste all the fuel and 3 hours driving in rush hour traffic, specifically for Roberts Camera Shop. I almost want to rate 1 star after that. I have never really had a "good" experience at either shop. The first time (a few years ago), I walked in, and no one acknowledged or helped me. So I left and went to BB to get what I needed. The next 3 times, I was helped, and staff was nice. But the horror begins when paying for my purchases, using my synchrony. Slowest process, ever! Two hours minimal, for single purchase. Uncalled for! After I go again, to get what I need, will probably be my last. Nice modest selection and variety of most gear, and friendly service, when they decide to help.

The guy in the shop are extremely knowledgeable... it is very amazing. Dang you can really find anything in here. They carry a lots of different brand, and have a very large inventory. And that also included analogue camera. I also love the rental as it is easy to get the gear and try it out. I am a professional photographer based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. I am very often in town for clients... and I just don't swept because I know Roberts will have my back. I am some time nostalgic of the old place downtown. Just because of some found memories. But the new shop is so clean and neat.

My favorite place to shop for all my camera gear , everything I've ever purchased from Roberts and Used Photo Pro has been an excellent experience , thier shipping department is top notch and the only way I can see something being damaged is if it were literally run over by a truck ,the items are always packaged well and customer service is the best in the business , I tell everyone I can about Roberts because I want to see people treated fairly and Roberts Camera does just that with the great customer service, warranties, and huge selection and friendly staff , I have nothing but good to say about them they have won me over as a lifetime customer .

I have been going to Robert's since I got my first real camera for a film class in high school, over a decade ago. Their staff is super knowledgeable and will make sure you get the right camera, they don't ever try to upsell you. In my experience they have actually let me know what cameras are a great deal that week. They also have a used camera selection which had great cameras at price points for everyone. Lastly they also offer printing in any size you need.

I purchased a used canon lens from them and it started having issues. Their used inventory has a 6 month warranty so I wasn’t too worried. Was mainly concerned with having to take the lens back, wait for them to fix it, be without a lens and then make another trip to pick up the repaired lens. Not the case at all. I brought my lens back and they just swapped me out. I have a perfectly functioning lens, I didn’t have to go without, and I don’t have to make another trip. Highly recommend these guys. 👍🏻

I had been looking for a used canon 200mm 2.8Lii lens for about 6 months. I saw one for sale from Roberts Camera online (usedphotopro). I had purchased a sigma 120-300 2.8 lens from them years ago and found them to be excellent to work with. So the one listed was in "Mint" condition. It certainly looked in mint condition and was listed for a very reasonable price. Came with everything including box, etc. If it wasn't for the rebate serial number being cut out of the box it could have passed for new. I ordered and received the lens in 5 days. It was as advertised. Perfect. This lens is more of a niche lens and does not have IS and is a prime, but it was exactly what I was looking for. The glass was spotless as was everything else. Even the packing was superb when I received it. The 200mm 2.8Lii lens is an old design, but still works quite nicely and for an L lenses is quite frankly a bargain as long az you don't mind a non-IS prime. And Roberts Camera...I would give them 6 stars if I could.

Roberts staff is very knowledgeable about camera and lighting equipment. There were a couple of times when I did my research online and came in to discuss a lighting issue and realized after talking with their lighting person that there was a better solution. They don't require you to make a purchase when dispensing advice. I've tried this several times with phone calls to two online stores on the east coast and gotten the impatient treatment. Roberts' prices are also better, or equal to other online places.

I learned from this store years ago while buying on eBay and decided to visit it about a week or 2 ago since I saw on their site that they develop film. I went and expected it to be small but is a BIG store. They have a lot of new stuff and pretty good used. They develop and sell film which is pretty awesome. They got 35mm cameras, medium format and even large format cameras! They develop your film in like 2 days and return your negatives. I'm glad I found a place to develop my film at.

I shopped Best Buy & Roberts looking for a DLSR or mirrorless camera. I end up purchasing an Olympus OM-D Mark III camera from here. It fell considerably short of expectation on photo quality and it performs very poorly in even moderately low light. I took this and my IPhone 11 Pro w/a Moment Lens on vacation and can say my Iphone was significantly better for 90% of the photos I took. From a consumer experience, I would say Best Buy was superior due to how easy it was to compare pricing & features in-store and online. At BB, the rep was very patient, knowledgable and took time educate me on key features and the difference between brands and models. I definitely felt more "sold" here vs choosing a camera that was the right fit. I would have bought a higher quality camera and lens had I been presented any other option than the Olympus. Frustrating. 3 Stars for competitive pricing and the amount of accessories available in store, everything else fell short of expectation.

Walking into the store I was pleased by the selection of products, however most didn't fit my budget. BEST camera store ever! Roberts is my "go to" dealer for equipment. I have been a Roberts customer for over 10 years. The problem with a lot of places that sell cameras is they don't actually know anything about cameras. The opposite is true here. Most of the people you talk to are professional photographers that have recently used the equipment you are asking about. I've been here dozens of times and I've never interacted with anyone that wasn't friendly. Another problem with high-end retail like this is that you are pressured to buy more than you want. Again I've always had the opposite experience here. They are happy to show you whatever you want and suggest what would be good, but I've never felt pressured at all. I really can't recommend this store enough as they just have that perfect combination you are looking for in a place like this.

Roberts Camera is WONDERFUL. I'm a semi-pro shooter, and need a reliable source for equipment--both used and new. I ordered a refurbished D610, was unhappy with the first, and they replaced it very promptly at their expense. Also purchased a used camera backpack supposedly in "very Good" condition-- it looks BRAND new. Their shipping is prompt and very well (bomb-proof) packaged. Their customer service responds very promptly and positively to questions or problems. Previously I have made major camera purchases at BH, which is still a quality outfit. Roberts (both locations, but this is specific to Downtown) is great. I largely try to support local beers and restaurants but often fail to do so with something like electronics. I do not "showroom" stores - I just tend to do all my research on line and then buy on line. I have found over the past decade that with camera gear (for a while some canon stuff, now all Micro Four Thirds gear) I cannot beat Roberts. Their prices are as good or better than I find on line. Their service is great and the fact you have a store that is local in which you can buy a camera (my last example was the GX7) where I could shoot it over a weekend and know that I could exchange it for something else (I was on fence at time about omd 5). I also love that they do so much on-line stuff - they move a tone of products on ebay so they are also servicing the online market and doing so with jobs in Indy. I cannot lie in that I will miss the south meridian location. I know the new store on St. Clair will be nicer in every way and easier to get to for many . . . but when I was downtown (a few times a year) I almost always went in that location as I was in the area. They are so great in letting you browse even if you are just there to look at stuff and not buy.

As a retired Air Force person I've bought photography equipment around the world and never have I received the service that I recently received from Roberts Camera. I recently bought a Tamron 16-300 lens off E-Bay. This lens was only about four months old and had been purchased from Roberts. Shortly after I received the lens from the seller it started having problems. The seller contacted Bruce Pallman at Roberts and he agreed to have the lens sent in under warranty even though I wasn't the original buyer. After repairs Bruce quickly shipped the lens back to me. About three weeks after the return of the lens it again developed the same problem. Bruce could of just said to return it and lets try and have it serviced again. Instead he contacted Tamron and procured a new replacement lens for me that has been working wonderfully. My hat is off to you Bruce and your attention to customer satisfaction.

2/20/14 I just made my first purchase from Roberts. The entire transaction could not have been easier, or more pleasant. I am an NPPA member and have read print advertisements from Roberts Camera for many years. First, I contacted Phil Gibson (the Retail Sales Manager) to discuss what I wanted to do...to trade in some old Nikon equipment for a combination of some newer and some new Nikon equipment. Phil sent me a written (fair) appraisal for my trade-in, and a quote for the equipment that I wanted. I stopped in for my first time after looking for a camera shop close to the Bankers Field Arena where I was spending the day. I found them here on Google Maps and after looking at their websites ( main store & used store) and seeing how updated they were... I like a proper website. It speaks volumes as it says that they are ACTIVELY SELLING PRODUCTS. So... in I grab an Uber and I head over. It was far above my expectations. ITS HUGE ...it’s well lit at around f/11 ...lol ... not cluttered and well laid out. YES.... the store has a great composition. I went in with one thing in mind, to get another tripod... a Carbon Fiber one and if I saw the right one... a gimbal too. Well I found both... I got a Induro Carbon Gimbal and a MeFoto Carbon Fiber travel tripod with a tricked out monopod built in. My salesperson was awesome... I had a great time there as we talked and he answered my questions... and was able to read me pretty good. GOOD CARBON FIBER gear is NOT CHEAP... I knew this going in ... you have GOOD CARBON that isn’t cheap.... and you have CHEAP Carbon fiber that is CHEAP... I did not see any Junk Carbon Fiber gear.... ALL BRAND NAME tripod(s) and accessories. ROBERTS CAMERA is now in my SAVED file on my GPS.

My friends and I visit Robert's Camera about once a month and we love it! I have purchased both a 50mm lens and 18-135mm lens from Robert's and the experiences were mostly great. This afternoon didn't start great. I went in to purchase my 18-135mm lens from Ken and everything seemed great. I went out to my car and mounted the lens to my camera and something didn't seem right. Before I say more, let it be known I am no camera or lens expert. Once I got the lens on the camera I could tell the focusing wasn't as sharp as an STM lens should be. My 50mm lens is butter smooth and the 18-135mm has the same design motor. While downtown, I shot for a few minutes and just couldn't get passed the focusing. I walked back to Robert's and spoke with Ken again. I told him that I wasn't sure if I was sold the correct lens. There are a few different versions of the 18-135mm (IS,USM,STM) and I was sure what I was given wasn't an STM lens. Ken assured me that it was in fact an STM lens. It was my mistake for not taking the lens out to show him. I then, under the assumption it was an STM lens, went back to my shoot. I still knew something wasn't right. I then got on Youtube and looked up a few reviews on the lens and determined without a doubt...what I was given wasn't an STM lens. I then went back to Robert's for a third time and spoke with Ken. I told him I most definitely did not get an STM lens, even though I paid for one (open box). What I received was an IS model. Ken and the man's name I didn't get, found me an open box STM 18-135mm lens and gave it to me for an exact even trade on what I paid initially. I understand people make mistakes and my ignorance probably didn't help matters. I will continue to shop at Robert's because of the great customer service and their willingness to help. This mix up wasn't fun, but the service I received to rectify it made this review a 5 star...
