I was seeing a holistic practitioner in Dubuque, IA for some gut issues; she helped clear my SIBO, but I was also having some gallbladder issues after the SIBO cleared. It's a long story (which I will spare you), but practitioner was no longer helpful to me and I was not happy with her care/her office beyond the treatment of my SIBO. I sought out somewhere new- someone who had experience in digestive issues and could help me with my gallbladder. After a lot of research, I found Lakeside Natural Medicine. While the office is about 3 hours away from me, the reviews looked promising. In addition, my parents live in the Milwaukee area, so I was able to made it work pretty easily. I saw Dr. Aponte; I brought her all of my medical history from my regular GI doc + the other holistic practitioner that was gathered over the past couple years. Dr. Aponte met with me and used my previous info + the info she gathered at my appointment to help design a treatment plan. She was kind, knowledgeable, and thorough. I was sent home with a list of supplements and a plan. The treatment plan helped so much. I now rarely experience my gallbladder issue; when I do happen feel the issue coming back, I know how to get everything back under control. I am so thankful for Lakeside Natural Medicine & Dr. Aponte for helping heal my digestive issues in a way that the practitioner near me could not.

I started seeing Dr. Aponte a little over two months ago and I highly recommend her services! She is the only medical professional that has been able to help me with an ongoing sinus congestion/coughing issue. For years I went to specialists and other doctors and no one could seem to figure out why I was having the symptoms I was having and after only 2 months following Dr. Aponte's recommendations I'm feeling 100% I also love that this facility offers virtual appointments so if you live further away you can still find time to connect without the fuss of driving all the way to be seen in person. I have been seeing Dr. Meister for my hormonal/digestion issues. She is the only medical provider that actually listened and tested what my body was actually producing and not producing. With the actual information she had she was able to treat me with the proper hormonal and digestive supplements/ medications. She worked with my family doctor for even a smoother course of treatment. I’ve had endometriosis and gut issues for years and no help after seeing many specialists and spending thousands of dollars. I would highly recommend Dr. Axtell to anyone looking for a naturopathic doctor. I have ulcerative colitis and was able to tame a flare I was having using the supplements and diet Dr. Axtell recommended. Prior to starting the health regimen that she mapped out for me, I was having GI bleeding and inflammation. After a month or so of starting the diet and supplements she suggested, I began feeling relief and after three months, I had a colonoscopy that showed no inflammation. I was shocked and am so grateful for her help! I truly believe I would have had to take steroids if it weren’t for her recommendations. She is thorough, intelligent and kind. You won’t regret meeting with her!
